Easter skiingtrip to Lyngen, Norway - 2005

This is the last teaser, before I'm gonna start posting 05/06 -seasons trip reports. So enjoy and pray for snow.

A nice scenic view somewhere between Narvik, Troms and Lyngseidet.

Satu and Juhana ready to head for Lyngen Skihytte (ski-hut), just above the village of Lyngseidet.

Satu messin' around with her Trekkers after their first outing. She's stading just outside of the Skihytte.

The "backbowl" west of Kavringstinden.

Satu hiking the N-ridge of Kavringstinden, Juhana far, far in the distance.

The main bowl of Kavringstiden. The village of Lyngseidet is just right from the center of the photo. The local mole-hill can be seen above the village, aswell.

Me, just about to ski the left side of the main bowl. The summit of Kavringstinden can be seen in the background.

Satu making turns, just left of the "edge" of the main bowl.

We're setling our stuff before heading for Goalbasvarri hytte (hut). The different equipment used can be seen here as well (one AT, one tele, and one alpine + Trekker).

This would be me, messin' around with my camera. The following day's target Rundsfjellet is in the background.

Ice axe and shovel came in handy, when fetching water from the stream.

Satu having a snack, before starting to bootback upwards. The formidable peak in the background is a part of Skaidevarri-massif.

Goalbasvarre hytte, well it's porch to be precice.

Goalbasvarre, seen from the hut.

Juhana and me brewing. Two of the three french guys looking at the maps.

Satu's skins on the left, Juhana's on the right. Guess which were easier to apply / take off? And the the second question: which worker better? Answer, Satu's were a PITA and not much better hold on steep'ish switchbacks.

Kitchen & skis at a "hut" near Lakselvbukt. Enough beds for 6, plus a few sofa's so could easily house 8 to 9 people. Also added bonus was a sauna and indoor swimming pool in the main building, oh and this hut was pretty cheap as well (by norwegian standards, anyway).

Juhana carving his way down on the last day. We didn't get even near a peak, but we did have fun skiing in the woods lower down.

Photocredits to JuhanaV, SatuL and me.

Hey Henkka! Nice to see you guys having a great time in Lyngen. Maybe we can hook up next time you're in the hood. Havent been skiing up here yet, as I have been working too save some cash for a skitrip to some unknown location this winter. But I had a great trip to Las Leñas, Argentina in august(!). You should try it! Great south american feel, and lots of snow dumping from the pacific on an awsome liftaccesed mountain (1100 vertical on some pretty alpine terrain). And the parties man... And the smoochies... Oohlala ü. Met Hugo Harrison by the way.
