Midsummer's Day trekking at Nuuksio, Finland -2002
As I had no big plans for Midsummer's Day, I desided to go trekking at the local national forest, Nuuksio. Nuuksio is just 30 km from downtown Helsinki (Capitol of Finland), and has nice lakes, small cliffs and marshes. Sami, a friend of mine from school, desided to tag along. We trekked for majority of the day, setup our camp by one of the many lakes. The following day we did some more trekking before heading back home.
This trip was also a test-run for my DIY laavu (sort of lean-to). The laavu worked pretty well, but there is some work to be still done on it.
The locals drop by for a visit...
The nature had formed a nice chimney for our fire.
A scenic photo over the lake, taken at around midnight on Midsummers eve.
And we weren't the only ones camping there... There was also one another tent, which can't be seen. So in total there were three groups including ours.
Our camp. The lake provided a nice refreshing morning, 'cause we went swimming before the breakfast.
More locals...
Somethings cooking...
And Sami waiting for the stew to get done...
